CROSS
RAIL (UK)
This project for the Cross Rail in London is where the CPT was first used on the C300 contract. This invert design with its numerous cast-ins and reinforced sections prevented direct access for the agitators. Laborious pumping methods were previously used.
The CPT was designed and built to overcome these challenges. The first version had 9 platforms with rear-fed concrete supply pumped to the work front. Winches propelled the CPT and provided a productive, safe and accurate method of invert casting. Given its configuration, placement ran 24/7 as prep work occurred in parallel.
Notably, the machine completed a 13 day continuous pour from Bond Street to Paddington. This method was awarded an European patent.
